Department Summary:

The Counselor Education Department at Bridgewater State University offers high-quality, CACREP -accredited graduate programs that prepare students for professional counseling roles in a variety of settings. The Department currently has 4 full-time faculty and a full-time Director of Fieldwork serving two CACREP programs (Mental Health and School Counseling). The overall goal of the program is to prepare ethical, evidence-based, and socially just counselors who are equipped to serve diverse populations in schools, mental health agencies, higher education, and other community settings, with a strong commitment to advocacy, cultural humility, and professional excellence. We have recently completed the CACREP review process and have received 8 years of accreditation. We offer excellent faculty mentorship, small class sizes, and a collaborative community. We are proud that our graduates are highly prepared for licensure exams (100% pass rate in 2024-2025) and employment in schools, agencies, higher education, and beyond.

Essential Duties:

The Department of Counselor Education invites applications for a full-time, in-person, tenure track teaching position to begin Fall 2026.

General Responsibilities:

Teach graduate counseling courses as a part of a 3:3 teaching load, with the possibility of additional evening courses and summer courses subject to availability
Advise graduate counseling students
Engage in scholarship and service to BSU and the community

Required Qualifications:

Earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education by September 1, 2026

Proven commitment to principles in diversity, inclusion, and social justice in higher education

Demonstrated evidence of sustained professional engagement in the counseling field through at least two of the following: (a) professional development and renewal activities; (b) professional service and advocacy; © ongoing counseling practice; or (d) research and scholarly activity appropriate to the faculty role.

Demonstrated dedication to student development through advising, mentoring, and/or other student support activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional Areas of Interest

Doctoral degree from a CACREP accredited program

Experience providing clinical supervision

Work experience as a professional mental health counselor

Experience in teaching CACREP core courses

Evidence of effective partnerships within and among community stakeholders and the ability to enhance collaborative relationships with local agencies and/or schools

Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to fostering collegial relationships and contributing to a culture of mutual respect and collaboration

Multilingual
